Whilst he has always painted, much of his early adulthood was taken up with career and family. As a successful lawyer for over 20 years, he practised both as a barrister and later as a solicitor in various private firms and also, for a short period, as Senior Corporate Prosecutor for the Commonwealth of Australia.

After years of trying to fit some artistic expression into a busy legal practice, he started his art career when he changed vocational direction 15 years ago.

In 1996 he commenced his formal fine arts education. He attended the Julian Ashton Art School, then the National Art School (NAS) and finally the University of New South Wales (UNSW).  In 1999, while at NAS he won the Sydney Airport Major Painting Prize and the Ken Done Travelling Scholarship for Outstanding Achievement. He currently holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from NAS, a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours from UNSW and a Master of Fine Arts from UNSW.

Peter has participated in many exhibitions in Sydney including at Cutcliffe Gallery, Addison Rd Gallery and NSW Parliament House. In addition from 2002-6, he was engaged as a drawing teacher at NAS and UNSW. In 2006 he was appointed the Administrator for the Artists Residences for the College of Fine Arts at UNSW.

With his strong artistic background, his love of landscape and his agricultural interests, Peter will continue to represent the landscape as a fitting expression of the larger preoccupations of time and spirit.
